My introduction to progressive rock was at 12 years old when I purchased the album (sound unheard) Close to the Edge by Yes. It was a lot to digest at the time for a staunch Elton listener. But, I dug my heels in and committed to it, listening over and over until the hook was set. After, it was a steady diet of Yes, Genesis and the other usual suspects in this rather elevated genre of music. A common cornerstone are the brilliant lyrics. They've become more than poetry and story telling to me. Often times, they put language to the abstractions of life. I follow the bands (as we progressive rock-heads do), and stay tuned to the solo careers of the fantastic musicians that make up these groups. Most recently, I've "discovered" the Flower Kings, Transatlantic, and again, the brilliant off-shoot bands and solo projects from these guys. They're writing and recording prolifically, and my drawing fantasy has really just begun.
P.S. You'll also see non-prog and rock art in my gallery. Let's discuss your project.
